COVID-19 Update

In response to advice from the Australian Government, the Belmont Neighbourhood Centre Management Committee has made the decision to temporarily close our doors.    Although the Belmont Neighbourhood Centre (BNC) is closed to the public, we are committed to working with our community through these challenging times.
Our phone number is 02 4947 0031. It is still open for calls Monday – Friday 9am-4pm and we can provide you with information, referrals and support as we all adjust to new social distancing measures. We know that many people in our community are living alone, are working from home and many parents are at home with their families and children. Our staff are available to chat if you are self-isolating in the home or need support from a familiar voice.

We’re Online!

Many people are staying engaged with each other via social media. We can connect with you via Facebook, Instagram, and Google Hangouts if you would like to chat.

New Online Services

We are excited to announce a new webcam service to our community, volunteers, members and friends. Even though we can’t meet with you in person, we are here to talk to you face-to-face via webcam if you have a smart phone or a webcam enabled laptop or desktop computer.
Book a webcam meeting with us:

  • Webcam breaks – If you and your family are working or studying from home, take your morning tea, lunch or afternoon tea break with us, via webcam.
  • Information, referral and support – If you are experiencing hardship, we can talk to you about your situation, how to access assistance and provide information that can help.
  • If you are self-isolating at home, we can spend some time talking with you via webcam to check in with your mental health and provide social contact
  • Our regular clients and volunteers – We really enjoy talking to our volunteers, members and friends. If you are a regular attendee at our centre, we would love to hear from you.

Belmont Neighbourhood Centre incorporates the Men’s Shed, Habitat in Harmony Community Garden, Hall Hire, Playstation Toy Library and a multitude of community services and great programs.

We are a busy, bustling centre with lots of different programs happening every single day. We run workshops, events, exercise classes, and all sorts of services. Check out the programs page for more information.

Habitat in Harmony is our longest running environmental project. Our community garden provides an opportunity for people to have some hands on experience in sustainable land management and permaculture principles. Also, it’s pretty.

Belmont Men’s shed is a member of the Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA) and has representatives attending the Hunter Cluster.  Belmont Men’s Shed supports the values of the Men’s Shed movement and specifically aims to provide men of Belmont and surrounding suburbs with a facility where you can share ideas and knowledge and work on projects in a safe, supportive and friendly environment.

Hall hire.

We have 2 large halls and several rooms which are available for hire for kids birthday parties, group meetings, social enterprises, classes and more. Need somewhere to meet? Get in touch with us and see when our halls are available.

PlayStation Toy Library is a proud project of Belmont Neighbourhood Centre which was established in September 2011.
The aim of PlayStation Toy Library is to provide parents with a cost effective way for their children to experience the variety and joy of play.

The toys are aimed at 0-5 year olds and are available for hire, by donation.
