Diversity Day at Habitat in Harmony Community Garden
What makes you special?
Diversity Day is a social day in our community garden – Habitat in Harmony – where we will celebrate the diverse community of Belmont and surrounds.
A special invitation goes out to youth, young parents, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) groups, people with disabilities and those who identify as LGBTIQA+, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
We will be gathering together in our beautiful community garden to enjoy the outdoors and do some simple gardening tasks. Tasks could include: watering the garden, spreading mulch, applying natural liquid fertilizer, sweeping paths, making compost, pruning shrubs and turning garden soil over for re-planting. People of all skill levels are welcome to attend, including children.
Where: Belmont Neighbourhood Centre – 359 Pacific Highway, Belmont North
When: Thursday November 9th, 2017, 10am – 1pm
Please wear covered footwear and a hat. Bring garden gloves, and your own hand tools – if you prefer. A light lunch will be provided. Please book in by calling 02 4947 0031 (for catering purposes)
About Habitat in Harmony Community garden (HIH):
HIH is essentially an outdoor extension of the Belmont Neighbourhood Centre. It is a community space for all to enjoy! It has wheelchair accessable paths and an accessable garden bed. Volunteers are available to assist if needed, but most will be busy looking after the garden. Clients requiring intensive support will need a carer or support person present. It is a non-smoking environment and is maintained using organic and permaculture techniques.
