What is diversity all about?

Diversity means understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing our individual differences as being our strengths. These can be along the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies.

Belmont Neighbourhood Centre is passionate about Diversity. It’s important that our Staff and Volunteers are valued and recognised for their unique qualities, ideas and perspectives. We acknowledge the skills and perspectives that people may bring to the Neighbourhood Centre;

We are committed to providing a working environment that values diversity and inclusion which supports the community to reach their full potential. Our commitment is demonstrated through workplace diversity and inclusion strategies, policies and initiatives. These include:

  • providing flexibility in volunteer roles
  • training and awareness programs for staff and volunteers, including Indigenous Cultural Awareness and Disability Awareness
  • celebrating diversity days and events to promote awareness and inclusion
  • Providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive community place for all.
